Unstoppable Survival Gear and Skills
There are a number of survival tools and skills that are basically unbreakable in most cases. While you can have a collection of gear that you might call your survival loadout or your camping loadout, there are only a few of those items that that are truly unstoppable.
When you are facing a force like mother nature you will lean on these powerhouse skills and tools. In any situation under most types of stress these things stand up. I want to talk about them. Maybe you have them all in your bag or maybe you don’t. You can quickly add these items to your kit without breaking the bank.
Ferro Rod
I have read that ferro rods have the ability to create up to 2000 fires! 2000 fires from a single ferro rod. I believe that, if you know how to build a fire and start one efficiently. The ferro rod is basically unstoppable. You cannot ruin it with mud, water, blood, sand or anything else you drop it into.
Even breaking a nice big ferro rod can be a struggle. If you have a nice thick ferro rod on you, fire is always an option.
Folding Saw
Processing wood is such an important part of survival. Having the right tool for this task can save your survival knife’s sharp edge. It will also make sourcing wood less of a hassle. The folding saw is one such item.
The larger folding saw is so great because it made of steel and the best brands are built to take a beating. When your tools are made primarily of quality steel it adds a level of durability to your kit and that is so important.
Fire Making
Until now we have only mentioned tools as a part of that unstoppable part of a survivor’s kit. Skills are also capable of making you unbreakable in the wilderness and in survival in general. One such skill is fire making. With fire you can do all sorts of things.
You can do so much with fire that its just got to be high up on your list of skills. From fire you can create several items that are on this list. Of course, that requires a bunch of other skills that are not listed here. Still, understanding the process and pace of fire building is essential.
Steel Traps
Steel straps are another one of those unbreakable pieces of the survival framework. These things can outlast you if you take care of them. Many preppers get in the mindset of .22lr for all their meals. Well, not a bad plan, until you run out of ammo. You cannot run out of traps because they will catch meals over and over again.
Tourniquet
While you can fashion a tourniquet out of many items around you, the real thing is just going to stop that blood flow in a hurry. You may not think of a tourniquet as a piece of survival gear. Sorry to hear that. Being able to stop blood flow is a critical part of any survival situation that could involve injury.
There are legions of people who carry trauma kits on their person every day. This is because they understand the effectiveness of a quality tourniquet. Be prepared with first aid tools and the skills to use them.
Fitness
When you think of unstoppable, unbreakable and undeniable survival skills and gear, does fitness come to mind? It should. Think of how you enter a survival situation. Are you hydrated, are you winded, are you injured. A healthy lifestyle that focuses on fitness can be one of the most powerful tools you have in your survivors toolkit.
Stamina is gold. It dictates how far you can go. Fitness also teaches you how to overcome severe physical adversity and believe me, survival is going to present severe physical adversity. Its about a lot more than just looking good.
When you enter a survival situation, you are going to be looking for anything familiar that you can cling onto. This familiarity will help you find your bearings. If you can cling onto the fact that you are tired, out of breath but still have more in the tank, that’s a powerful place to be.
Stakes
Cheap, sturdy and not in most bags, a set of stakes gives you the ability to create shelter in a hurry. A simple tarp, cordage and stakes will give you shelter from most elements in a matter of 10 minutes. Still, most people don’t opt for carrying stakes in their pack.
Stakes are often metal or thick plastic. This means they are going to last a long time. They are the very definition of unstoppable survival gear.
Cordage
As we mentioned, cordage goes hand in hand with shelter. Of course, that is not all. Cordage gives you all sorts of options. You can make shelter, nets, weapons, grips, hang things, make slings and many other things.
Cordage cannot break. Nothing bag can happen to it. If it gets really old, it might get a little brittle but things like bank line and 550 paracord are what you want. By carrying cordage, you give yourself options to use the natural world and manipulate it to do your bidding
Conclusion
Now, any responsible survivalist would be remised not to mention that experience over gear is by far the best way to make you an unstoppable survival force. That said, there are pieces of gear and skills that can put you on the fast track to dominating the natural world and being able to respond to disaster.
The market for survival is huge and its competitive. When you build your own bag, be sure it contains the unstoppable survival tools that we have recommended above.
BONUS: A steel bottle is another powerful item that should be in every survival kit. Its another one of these unbreakable items that work on several levels. While many people ere on the side of the designer insulated bottle, you will find that the steel bottle offers you the ability to boil water and make charcloth along with having another vessel for water collection.
